Dr. Blogstein BANNED by YouTube for Islam porn parody

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

breakingnews

The Dr. Blogstein’s Radio Happy Hour YouTube account has been permanently terminated “due to terms of use violation” pertaining to a video titled Islam Porn: Prophet Muhammad’s Virgin Fantasy 72.

The video, showing the controversial Dutch cartoon depiction of the Prophet Muhammad and featuring a skit containing several double entendres, puns and plays on words has been on YouTube for nearly a full year.

The skit debuted on the Radio Happy Hour on June 24th, 2008, the same day the video was uploaded onto YouTube.  Though sexual in nature, the video and skit is clearly parody.  In fact, it opens up with a disclaimer claiming just that.

No official reason was given to the Radio Happy Hour, nor did they recieve any notice of a violation.

YouTomb, a research project of MIT Free Culture with the purpose of  investigating “what kind of videos are subject to takedown notices due to allegations of copyright infringement with particular emphasis on those for which the takedown may be mistaken” has yet to find an explaination for the video’s removal or the name of a complaintant.

Below is the full video in question, still accessible on FunnyOrDie.com:

Itching for more Islam? Jonesin’ for more Jihad?

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

Did this week’s Radio Happy Hour (above) just whet your whistle with the debate on the state of Islam? Desire to know more about the subject? Care to hear the Muslim point of view? Want me to stop asking rhetorical questions and just get to the point already?

“American Muslim” Robert Salaam was the final caller in the Walid Shoebat segment. In fact, he got so fired up during his confrontation with the former PLO terrorist and bestselling author Brad Thor that Salaam was late to his own BlogTalkRadio show!

Once he got to his show, about 11 minutes late, he continued the discussion! Even the first caller in the Walid Shoebat segment–you know, the dude whose intellect and knowledge of specific historical facts confused the hell out of simple minded Dr. Blogstein–called into Salaam’s show to discuss his earlier experience on the Radio Happy Hour.

So, after hearing this week’s Radio Happy Hour, make sure you join the after party on Robert Salaam’s American Muslim Show.

Little Mosque on the Prairie

Friday, January 12th, 2007

Canada has never been known for its television, in fact, chances are, their highest rated programming is American produced. (That’s just a guess I have no facts to back that up and I’m too lazy to go fishing for those stats)

But our neighbors to the north have finally hit on something–something that unfortunately would probably never make it to the air in the US. Its a sitcom called Little Mosque on the Prairie and it follows a young Imam (Muslim equivalent to a priest or rabbi) from the big city who moves to a small town to lead their new mosque. The program is full of politically incorrect jokes about Muslims and in turn makes fun of how ignorant and uninformed many of us are about Islam.

What makes this show great, and I think important, is that its Muslims poking fun at the stereotypes that they live with. Muslim characters are getting caught in misunderstandings that lead to unfounded terrorist fears and find themselves in situations and in discussions of where they have to explain that they are just normal citizens who follow a normal religion.

But above all, its a sitcom and the pilot was pretty funny. I’m not sure how they’re going to keep up this gimmick and the running gags, but hopefully they will. And if it does succeed, I’m hoping it gets adapted for American TV.

A show like Little Mosque on the Prairie, showing Muslims as just normal people, could do for Islamic Americans what the Cosby Show did for African-Americans in the 80’s.

You can watch the entire pilot episode of Little Mosque on the Prairie at the amazingly entertaining site that first brought this show to my attention. Click onto Popped Culture to read a real life Canadian person’s view on this program and to watch the first episode. Then come back here and let us know what you thought.
