Joey G. Take 2

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Coming up this week on DR. BLOGSTEIN’S RADIO HAPPY HOUR: (Live on Tuesday April 24th at 9PM ET and forever archived at BlogTalkRadio.)

Joey G. from The Sopranos will finally make his way to the Radio Happy Hour. If you remember back three week’s ago, the actor best know for portraying the gay mobster Vito Spatafore was scheduled to be a guest but stood us up. We’ll get his thoughts on the final season of the hit HBO show and maybe get him to reveal some gossip from the set. All this, of course, provided he doesn’t no-show again!

Also, back in February, my attorney, Neil, challenged my co-host, Jane, to a karaoke contest. This week, the karaoke grudge match
is on! (and the trash talking has been flooding my inbox!)

They’ll each sing one song and will be judged by a panel of three experts –or at least two experts and Dr. Blogstein. The other judges are Britt, from the popular Idol Radio Show, and talent representative Jonathan Clardy.

All that, plus your calls at 646-652-4804 and we’ll be interviewing a candidate for our internship, live on the air!

Join us every Tuesday night at 9PM ET. And if you miss us then, we’re forever archived at BlogTalkRadio. Listening to us will make you feel real good about yourself.

The Sopranos

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

The Sopranos returns tonight for its final nine episodes and I’m excited. Joey G’s confusion of thinking the Radio Happy Hour was a “no-show job” notwithstanding, I will be glued to my HBO at nine o’clock tonight. But why? Has the show been good since 2002?

Every season there are a handful of great episodes, usually involving someone getting whacked. But to get to those, we must sit through several “throw away” episodes in which nothing happens to move the story line along. We endure episode long dream sequences, trips to Paris and other random subplots that just produce more questions rather than tie up loose ends.

Sometimes I feel that I anticipate each season because of all the hype. Have they become better at marketing than they are at making quality TV?

But as much as I complain about meandering story lines and wasted episodes at the water cooler on Monday mornings, I crave a new episode. Its like the girl that teases you and frustratingly strings you along but still you wake up each morning excited to see her because of the hope that today is when she’ll give you the time of day.

Coming up this week on DR. BLOGSTEIN’S RADIO HAPPY HOUR: (Live on Wednesday April 4th at 9PM ET and forever archived at BlogTalkRadio.):

Dr. Blogstein and guest host Jaime welcome actor Joseph R. Gannascoli, AKA “Joey G” but better known as his Sopranos character, Vito Spatafore, the gay gangster. He’ll stop by to preview the final season of The Sopranos, which starts on Sunday on HBO. We’ll also find out what it was like returning to the “old neighborhood” after making out with Johnny Cakes.

Also, Bobby Griffin of “The Bestest Blog” will join us to discuss “Bestest-Gate,” a controversy roaring throughout the blog world this past week.

Griffin’s site promised added traffic to bloggers that signed up to his blog and offered even more exposure to those webmasters and blogger who donated money to him. The more money you donate, the more hits you were promised. But what happens when Griffin is too busy to work on his site and the hits don’t keep on coming? It very well may have been the biggest nerd uprising since the guys of Lambda Lambda Lambda took on the Alpha Betas of Adams College.

And for those of you worried about missing the American Idol results show, have no fear. Bond will be on his Big Leather Couch on Sanjaya Watch and reporting live as our Idol Correspondent.

All that, plus your calls at 646-652-4804.

Join us every Tuesday night at 9PM ET. And if you miss us then, we’re forever archived at BlogTalkRadio. I recommend you listen every week if you know what’s good for you.
