This week on the #1 most listened to comedy show on BlogTalkRadio

Monday, January 21st, 2008

paige-8x10-email-300dpi.jpgComing up this week on DR. BLOGSTEIN’S RADIO HAPPY HOUR: the #1 most listened to comedy show on BlogTalkRadio (Live on Tuesday January 22nd at 9PM ET and forever archived at BlogTalkRadio.)book_paige.jpg

Paige Adams-Geller has perhaps the most important rear end in the fashion industry.

For years, as a fit model, her butt helped shape the clothing that women wear. Now, literally by the seat of her pants, the former Miss California has her own line of premium denim.

How does one make a career out of trying on clothing? What makes her ass different from all other asses? How can anyone feel comfortable in their own genes? We’ll get to the bottom of all that (pun very much intended) when “The Queen of Jeans” joins Dr. B and Dangerous Lee on the Radio Happy Hour. We’ll also give away a copy of her new book, Your Perfect Fit, to one lucky listener.britney_spears_shaving-hair-bald.jpg

Then, Columbo’s great-niece and Radio Happy Hour favorite Samantha Falk returns with news of a controversial film project. Falk and actor Ross Tyler, her co-star, have both been cast in Memoirs of a Medicated Child, a movie that producer Tommy S. Parker continues to claim will star Britney Spears. Now, reports (here and here) are surfacing that the troubled pop star was never attached to or offered a role in the film. We’ll do our best to sort this complicated mess out.

All that, plus, Supreme Commander of the Cyberwaves Vinny Bond drags his Big Leather Couch into the Radio Happy Hour Lounge and chats live with the listeners, Justin the Weatherman aka J-Lo the Dance Instructor will try to remain racially sensitive and your calls at 646-652-4804

Today we will celebrate our Independence Day on the Radio Happy Hour with a guest who hopes to help other women find their independence.

Dr. Blogstein and Jane will be joined by Kim Droze, the creator of the new website ShouldIDivorceHim.com. Droze’s site, “where misery loves company”, claims to be a place to get advise, resources and women’s take on marriage, husbands and kids but is it just an anti-man bitch fest? We’ll get to the bottom of it.

Also this week, twenty-one year old sports and entertainment journalist Chris Yandek (left) of the newly redesigned TheSportsInterview.com will join us to discuss, among other things, his view on the murder/suicide committed by WWE Superstar Chris Benoit. Yandek spent time working with the WWE and even acts as a press agent for former wrestler Jake “The Snake” Roberts.

All that, plus we’ll hear highlights from Jane’s live stage debut from the night before, Vinny Bond will join us from his couch and of course your calls at 646-652-4804.

And Throw Away The Key!

“Free Paris”

That phrase usually refers to the cost to have sex with her, but now it has a whole new meaning.

Paris Hilton has been sentenced to 45 days in jail for driving drunk, driving with a suspended license and driving while an idiot. She probably would have gotten off (no pun intended) easier had she not shown up for her court appointment 20 minutes late, posing for cameras, and giggling throughout.

I have no sympathy for her. In fact, I’m happy about it. It’s ridiculous that little girls look up to this spoiled brat as a role model so it’s about time she’s done something that little girls can learn from. You do something illegal, you get thrown in jail. No matter how pretty, no matter how rich, no matter how slutty–you get locked up!

But unfortunately, her minions and fans just aren’t getting this. Instead, they’re crying out about this “injustice” by passing around a petition to get Paris’ sentence dropped. Only it wasn’t until I read the petition on our buddy Vinny Bond’s site did I get this riled up.

“Paris Whitney Hilton is an American celebrity and socialite. She is an heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune, as well as to the real estate fortune of her father Richard Hilton. She provides hope for young people all over the U.S. and the world. She provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives.”

Good lord! That’s just the beginning of the pathetic petition written by and signed by what only can be described as “LOSERS.”

I had to do something about it so I started a movement of my own. A petition to make sure Paris serves her full sentence. Please support this cause:

Eulogy for The O.C.

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Tonight airs the final episode of The O.C., a program that writers and producers put so much of themselves into the first season, they had nothing left to give after that.

Seasons 2 through whatever they’re up to (I stopped watching when the rest of America did) now fall into the same category as Rocky V, The Golden Palace and Lex Luthor’s interview with “Father Felony”: Parts of the story we pretend never happened otherwise it ruins everything thing that happened before it.

From the beginning, The O.C. had all the ingredients necessary to get me interested in a program: hot girls. But getting me drawn in was only half the battle. The first season was intelligent, quirky and heart warming. There was also a great big fight and/or disaster in every episode that usually interrupted and/or ruined the most glamorous of social events.

But that first season was far more than just a network TV drama. It was a vehicle for social change. It made Jews cool and geeks chic. It showed us that the wealthy are just as screwed up as the poor. It introduced us to Chrismukkah, the ultimate melting-pot holiday that began on The O.C. and eventually was listed in Time Magazine as one of the “buzzwords” of 2004.

But above all, The O.C. brought attention to deaf rights and the importance of closed-captioning. Never in the history of television has there been an actor like Adam Brody (Seth Cohen). The guy, for as witty and goofy as he is, has a severe mumbling problem and a knack for swallowing his punch lines. Countless times I was forced to rewind and put on my closed captioning to figure out what the hell he was saying. This taught me the perils of what it must like to be deaf and really made me appreciate their hardships.

While most of us said goodbye to The O.C. a few years ago, tonight is the official farewell. I will not be watching so if anyone does, please let me know what happened. Actually, on second thought, I don’t care.

Who’s Your Dead-y?

Monday, December 11th, 2006

(Note to my female, homosexual male and foreign readers: Please stick with me through the beginning of this post where I briefly discuss certain baseball players. I know you won’t care about them, but I assure you that you’ll enjoy the point of the story.)

Jose Uribe was a shortstop for the San Francisco Giants while I was growing up. He was fairly obscure, nothing special, and mostly anonymous to a mere casual fan. He died on Friday in a car crash.

I was talking about this tragedy with one of my buddies. He, like me, is a walking baseball encyclopedia so when I mentioned another story of a baseball player dying way too soon, I figured he would have been familiar with the story. He wasn’t.

I brought up Bo Diaz. He was a catcher, mostly for the Cincinnati Reds. He also played while I was growing up. He was killed in 1990 when he was crushed by the satellite dish he was installing on his roof. My friend doubted my story so he did what anyone does these days to confirm a fact—He Googled “Bo Diaz died”.

That led us to one of the most macabre, yet entertaining website that I ever have come across: http://www.deadoraliveinfo.com/It’s the ultimate database of dead celebrities from all walks of fame. You not only find out who is dead, when they died and how it happened but you also learn who they’ve outlived, how many more days you have to live to outlive them and much, much more.

Did you know that if Artie Lange, the portly comedian from the Howard Stern Show, who is known for his abuse of drugs, alcohol and food can manage to stay alive for just 1,255 more days he can outlive Elvis Presley (also known for his “excesses”)? Fascinating!

I spent hours on this site last night. They even have games you can play like “Dead or Alive?” or “Guess The Age”Try it out…here’s one:

Dead or Alive?

Cass Elliot, AKA “Mama Cass” of the group The Mamas & The Papas

Fun, right? I can play on there all day and I think that I will…Imagine, if Bo Diaz had cable, I never would have known about http://www.deadoraliveinfo.com/ !

UPDATE (12-13-06) Peter Boyle AKA “Frank Barone” just swiched teams.
