Dangerous Encounters: Radio Happy Hour

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Coming up this week on DR. BLOGSTEIN’S RADIO HAPPY HOUR: (Live on Tuesday October 16th at 9PM ET and forever archived at BlogTalkRadio.)

National Geographic Channel’s Dr. Brady Barr was bitten by a 15 foot python, but held on to survive in order to tell the Radio Happy Hour all about it.

Hear Dr. Barr tell Dr. Blogstein and Jane of this harrowing experience, what he almost drowned in while fighting off the snake and who he sat next to while he was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

His special, Dangerous Encounters with Brady Barr: Snake Bite, airs on Saturday 10/20 at 8PM and then again on Sunday 10/21 at 3PM on the National Geographic Channel.

Also this week, we become a true happy hour with vodka and cocaine! First, Betsy Landis, Senior Vice President of V2 Vodka will stop by to get us drunk and share some good drink recipes for the fall. We may even be able to talk her into sending some vodka to one of our live chatroom guests.

Then, Logan Gola, the creator of the controversial energy drink mix, I Love Blow will hype things up. Whether you think his product is ingenious or “vile” you have to admit, it gets noticed.

All that plus, SUPREME COMMANDER OF THE CYBERWAVES Vinny Bond drags his Big Leather Couch into the Radio Happy Hour Lounge and chats live with the listeners, Justin the Weatherman provides a forecast like only he can and, as always, your calls at 646-652-4804.

Join us live every Tuesday night at 9PM ET. The Radio Happy Hour Lounge–a live chat room during show time–is a whole new reason to make sure you listen live! It’s the show within the show! But if you can’t and miss us then, we’re ALWAYS ON at www.DrBlogstein.com

Coming up this week on DR. BLOGSTEIN’S RADIO HAPPY HOUR: (Live on Tuesday May 1st at 9PM ET and forever archived at BlogTalkRadio.)

Dr. B and guest co-host Jaime from The Girl Also Blogs will welcome Don Bolles to the Radio Happy Hour. Bolles, the drummer for the legendary punk band, The Germs, recently spent time in jail for possession of SOAP!

We’ll find out what’s illegal about Dr Bronner’s soap and why he got pulled over in the first place. We’ll also get some insight into the history of The Germs, the suicide of Darby Crash, their original lead singer, and the movie about the band that will be released this summer.

Also this week, Jodi Lipper and Cerina Vincent stop by to talk about their new book, How To Eat Like A Hot Chick. Frankly, I’m having them on because they’re a couple of hot chicks and one of them played the Yellow Power Ranger. But I’m sure we’ll learn something from them too!

All that plus some unexpected surprises (as opposed to the surprises that we’re expecting) and your calls at 646-652-4804.

Join us every Tuesday night at 9PM ET. And if you miss us then, we’re ALWAYS ON at BlogTalkRadio. Don’t be an idiot, listen to the show.

Phil me in

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

When the Radio Happy Hour debuted last month on BlogTalkRadio nobody could have predicted the popularity of one of our regular callers.

Just as “Family Matters” was never intended to be all about Steve Urkel, we never meant to make Phil from Minnesota a star. But, you know what? We gotta give the audience what they want–And what they want is more Phil.

So, let’s learn more about this entertaining, intriguing and compelling accidental radio star.

Name: Phil

Hometown: Down South close enough for Rock n’ Roll.

Profession: Retired Truck Driver

Credit Card #: Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha now compute those numbers.

Drugs used: Will only answer that one live on the radio (Dr. B’s note: Smart move. Put nothing in writing.)

Favorite alcoholic beverage: Southern Comfort Straight not even on the Rocks.

Favorite Rock ‘n Roll Band: Creedence Clearwater Revival

Favorite TV Show: “Hogan’s Heroes”

Favorite Movie: Clint Eastwood in – The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Favorite Food: Cajun Chicken

Where is the weirdest place where you have ever made whoopee? In an Elevator – She was very kinky

Ginger or Maryann? Maryann of course

Laverne or Shirley? If I had to pick of one, I guess it would be Shirley, but they’re both a bit whaco.

Well, thank you Phil. Hopefully this will help satisfy your ever growing fan base until the next time you call into Dr. Blogstein’s Radio Happy Hour.

What we learned this week on the Radio Happy Hour

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

The following is just some of what we learned last night on Dr. Blogstein’s Radio Happy Hour:

  • doppelgänger is NOT a dirty word. It means any double or look-alike of a person—most commonly an “evil twin”.
  • The end of the world is also not funny.
  • Me and my jokes are responsible for the impending destruction of Earth.
  • “Thy Shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife” is indeed one of the Ten Commandments, and according to Pastor Ron, a viable one.
  • South Africa has some kind of rivalry with Australia.
  • Kosher for Passover and Mexican Coca-Cola is made with real sugar and not high fructose corn syrup making it healthier and tastier.
  • I can’t do a Bosnian accent, nor do I know what a Bosnian accent sounds like. We barely could figure out where Bosnia was.
  • Phil is a widower and not a widow. He’s also a Grandpa. We also learned that he quit drugs in 1978 or 1979 but still enjoys his booze.
  • If Phil were to fake his own death, he’d then fake coming back as his ghost to fake haunt his friends that didn’t show up to his funereal.

As you can plainly see, we are the celery of radio. Just as you ingest as many calories as you burn while eating a stalk of celery, you gain as many brain cells as you lose when you listen to the Radio Happy Hour.

Tim Ryan of the wildly hysterical The Sports Hernia will join Dr. Blogstein and Jane to talk them through this year’s March Madness. Don’t fill out your brackets until you hear what Tim has to say–this way, you have someone to blame when you crash and burn in your office pool.

Also, Movie Producer Chris Hanaford will call into the Radio Happy Hour with exclusive insight in to the well publicized “Barbie Bandits” bank robberies in Georgia. He’ll tell us about the film he’s planning to produce based on Jane’s favorite female bank robbers since the girls in Sugar & Spice. Hanaford will also fill us in on The Caper, the flick he’s set to release next month.

Here’s a look at the trailer:

All that, plus your calls at 646-652-4804.

Join us every Tuesday night at 9PM ET. And if you miss us then, we’re forever archived at Blog Talk Radio. If you can’t find an hour out of your week for this show, you must have a life.
