Russian born model/actress Anya Monzikova just finished work on the upcoming blockbuster “Iron Man 2” (due out May 7th), appearing in a climactic scene with Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Scarlett Johansson.

Previously, she was the model standing next to briefcase #10 on the popular game show “Deal or No Deal,” where her striking features and playful attitude resulted in a number of high-profile modeling gigs, including magazines like Stuff and Maxim and an appearance with her fellow “Deal” models in People magazine’s “Most Beautiful People” issue. When lead singer of edibleRed Collette McLafferty joined the show as a co-host, Vinny Bond suggested she record a new theme song for the show.  Dr. Blogstein thought that was a great idea and a perfect way to welcome in the new era of the Radio Happy Hour with Collette and The Burl, the other “newish kid on the block.”

The original Dr. Blogstein theme song was recorded by a Beatles tribute band Mostly Moptop. It had been in use since July 17, 2007.

The new theme song, recorded by Collette McLafferty, lead singer of edibleRed and featuring rapper Hassahn Phenomenon has a more up to date feel and more closely captures the vibe on the #1 most downloaded comedy.  The song was producer by Loor Ambient.

BEHIND THE MUSIC
The story behind the new Radio Happy Hour theme song, as told by Collette McLafferty:

The new Dr. Blogstein theme song started as a email conversation between me and Hassahn Phenomenon… I initially wrote a hook and composed a standard rock and roll theme song from my Garageband… it was super rough! Hasahn wrote a rap over it and emailed back to me about 6 weeks later… I also combed through a bunch of mp3’s from the Dr. Blogstein show so I could pick out some key samples of Doc’s voice ( I especially wanted to get one of him yelling at Vinny, since that is a staple of the show:)   As I was going through the episodes, I stumbled upon The Mouthinator.  I wasn’t initially planning to use him, but Mouthinator is to Dr. Blogstein what Cartman is to Southpark..Rolling Stone once said that Cartman’s voice is worth the price of basic cable.   Mouthinator’s voice is worth the price of high speed internet!

During that time, I started working with a kick ass electronic producer by the name of Loor Ambient… I liked the track I came up with, but since it consisted of Garageband samples that anyone could use, I thought it would be cool to get him on the track so he could spice it up with something original. Loor took it in a totally new direction and gave it more of a urban, futuristic feel. We produced it together, but he came up with the overall sound.

Interesting side note… just as we were about to bounce the track…we noticed that Hassahn said “6′oclock is the hour”… with specifying the time zone! So we had to lose that and I changed it to “9 PM eastern is the Hour”…. I’m glad we caught that!

This week’s contestant, Sascha Rothchild, choked on question one but redeemed herself on the next two to take home the DVD of Rhoda: Season One starring Valerie Harper.

Rothchild is the author of How to Get Divorced by 30: My Misguided Attempt at a Starter Marriage, a tongue and cheek and funny, yet practical memoir. While she’s not against marriage following her failed experience at the institution, she did tell us after winning the Pop Culture IQ that she is FOR divorce if you’re not happily married.

She advises against marrying for money but says that if you do choose to do so don’t sign a prenup because “then you’re just a moron.”

She also told us that she has a dog that she must walk five times a day.

The Hamptons and Miami were two rumored locals.  On last week’s show, Doc, Collette, Vinny and The Burl had another idea.  They thought MTV should send the cast to another country.  Then the Radio Happy Hour gang considered what type of international incident Guidos and Guidettets might cause and worried that perhaps President Clinton may have to get involved to diplomatically smooth things over.

Katie Couric: Good evening.  What started out as season two of a popular MTV series has turned into a tragic international incident leaving producers wondering if sending the cast of Jersey Shore to South Korea was a good idea.  David Martin reports.

David Martin: Thank you Kaitie.  The Situation is dead and two other stars of MTV’s hit show The Jersey Shore are in captivity after what is being called a tragic and unfortunate misunderstanding at the border of North and South Korea.

It all started Friday night when producers took the cast for a photo shoot on the border of the feuding nations.

“I saw them do it,” a female bystander said through a translator “I’ve seen the show so I knew what it meant. Obviously the border police have never seen the show”

By “it”, she’s referring to “The Fist Pump,” a Guido dance move or mating ritual in the states but a show of force in North Korea.

Charles Armstrong, Director of the Center for Korean Research at Columbia University:

Professor Charles Armstrong: Producers obviously didn’t prepare the Guidos well enough in terms of local customs.   Now they’re paying the price but I’m confident that the government will not rest until the two women are released.

David Martin: To that end, the Obama Administration will once again be leaning heavily on former President Bill Clinton who successfully negotiated the release of Laura Ling and Euna Lee last summer.

Bill Clinton: I’ve been in constant contact with both JWoww and Snooki and each seem to be in good spirits.  I spoke to J-Wow as recently as late last night and I felt really good about what she was saying.

David Martin: Katie, Clinton should arrive in North Korea tomorrow though he’d give no time table for their release.

Katie Couric: Have you been able to find out how JWoww and Snooki have been treated by the North Koreans?

David Martin: There’s some confusion about that.  Reports surfaced earlier today that the girls were beaten and brutally raped but that JWoww and Snooki were simply calling the incident “a normal out.” Katie.

Katie Couric: Thank you. David Martin reporting in South Korea.
