Jamie Masada, founder of the world famous Laugh Factory comedy club, is calling on Congress to act immediately on a $700 thousand comedy bail-out which he calls an “Economic Cheer-Up.”

The plan is to use the requested funds to dispatch 10-20 buses, each filled with several comedians, throughout the United States to bring free comedy shows, food and beverages to Americans who are out of work or otherwise suffering from the current economic climate.

Already, Masada is opening up his Sunset Blvd. club for free on Thursday nights for any patron who brings a valid unemployment card.

“Comedy is healing,” Masada said on this week’s Radio Happy Hour, “Comedy gives people hope.”

Masada says he’s already sent a letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D – CA) but has yet to get a response from the congresswoman.  His next step is to collect 20,000 signatures on a petition found at www.LaughFactory.com and send it to President Barack Obama.

Today, Masada’s Laugh Factory sent comedians out to NBC’s Burbank, CA studio to plead their case to the president.  Obama is scheduled to be the first sitting president to appear on The Tonight Show tonight. One comic was interviewed on Good Day LA below:

An historic night on Dr. Blogstein’s Radio Happy Hour as both presidential hopefuls called in with a final message to voters.

Around the 19:00 mark of last night’s show, Senator John McCain (R-AZ)  dialed in sounding upbeat, chipper and somewhat giggly which he admitted was due to him sneaking into his wife Cindy’s medicine cabinet.

“Whatever happens,” he said, “I won’t feel it until Sunday.”

Two minutes later, his opponent, Senator Barack Obama (D-IL), joined McCain on the show, fresh off a basketball game with some neighborhood kids and also feeling positive.

“People say that this is a big day for black people,” Obama said, “but more so it’s a big day for half black people.”

But when the two engaged, it seemed old habits from the campaign trail die hard.  The two argued over taxes, celebrity endorsements and fought over who was better friends with Lando Calrissian.

At one point, McCain accused Obama of being a “Sith Lord.”

Of course none of this would have been made possible if not for two men.  David “John McFake” Siegel and Jordan “Barack Fauxbama” Carlos, two talented comedians and impressionists from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City.

When John McCain reaches across the aisle, it may be to pass a copy of a Vince Flynn book to Barack Obama.

According to the bestselling author, whose new book, Extreme Measures, releases tomorrow, both presidential hopefuls are unlikely fans of his series of political thrillers.

In an interview set to air tomorrow night (click to hear), Flynn tells Dr. Blogstein’s Radio Happy Hour that Senator Obama’s favorite Flynn book is Term Limits, a novel about murdering corrupt politicians!
