You can call Chevy Chase one of the greatest comic actors of all time, but just don’t tell him over email.

The star of the NBC sitcom Community knows his way around a punchline and a pratfall but according to his costar Alison Brie, he’s a little shaky when it comes to technology.

While shooting the pilot, she told the Radio Happy Hour, the cast was sitting around between takes using their cell phones and sending emails. When Chase, who plays Pierce Hawthorne on the show, asked what they were doing, they explained and said that he could do it too. According to Brie, the former Saturday Night Live, Vacation and Fletch star responded, “Oh, I don’t have the internet. It’s in New York.”

“He doesn’t twitter. He’s not very good with electronics.” Brie says of her older costar, “He seems like he wants to learn but even with his cell phone, he’s not great.”

“He has a new phone but he’s scared to bring it to set. Once he brought it, we were all like, ‘Okay, we’re going to help you,’ but it wasn’t charged and once it was charged he had lost the will to learn.”

Brie, who stars as Annie Edison, a first year student at Greendale Community College who enrolled after dropping out of  high school due to an Adderall addiction, also discusses when they expect Community to be renewed for a second season, whether her and her cast mates gossip about NBC, her love of nudity and the TV show Lost.
