The Merlinmoon interview begins at the 65:27 mark

Alex Deep, also known as, Merlinmoon uses his talents in songwriting, guitar, and keyboard to mmerlinmoonuse his two loves—the mellow music of ‘70s rock/electronica and his spiritually—based philosophy—which then is translated to the magical sounds that echo through his music.

The 25-year-old grew up in the slums of Venezuela and discovered that writing and playing music allowed him to escape from the extreme circumstances he was born into. He found inspiration through his dreams which he would assume the moniker Merlinmoon to become his alter ego. He would go into this stream of consciousness while playing his music and it would take him to a world far away from everything he knew. Music became his preeminent currency right away.

Jon Lovitz: I had a good arm

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

I suppose the key word was “had” when comedian Jon Lovitz bragged to the Radio Happy Hour earlier this month about his baseball skills, because when he had his chance to prove it throwing out the first pitch at Wrigley Field today, he delivered with Oliver Perez like control.

The Jon Lovitz interview begins at the 6:00 mark

Tossing the ceremonial first pitch before the Sunday afternoon match up between the visiting New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs, Lovitz missed so badly the first time, they gave him another pitch to redeem himself.  The righty’s second attempt at least reached the plate.

That’s the ticket!

Sunda Croonquist Sued by Mother-In-Law for Telling Mother-In-Law Jokes

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

This Nov. 4, 2006 photo provided by Sunda Croonquist shows, from left, Croonquist, husband Mark Zafrin and mother-in-law Ruth Zafrin at Boas Steakhouse in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles. Veteran comic Croonquist is being sued by her mother-in-law after making her the punchline of too many jokes. (AP Photo/Courtesy of Sunda Croonquist, ho)One year ago on this very day, August 26, comedian Sunda Croonquist was a guest on the Radio Happy Hour.  Now, according to multiple news sources, she is being sued by her mother-in-law for making mother-in-law jokes!

According to the Associated Press, Ruth Zafrin, the Jewish mother-in-law of the half black, half-Swedish, Jewish converted stand up comedian is “accusing Croonquist of spreading false, defamatory and racist lies with in-law jokes that have become a staple of her routine in nightclubs and on television channels like Comedy Central.”

Croonquist, who oddly did not mention her mother-in-law once during her 2008 Blogstein interview, told the AP that there was a time when her in-laws would laugh at her jokes, “They played my tape at Passover one year, and they loved it,” but that things changed after she posted information on her Web site promoting shows in New Jersey that the in-laws said gave away their identities.

The Sunda Croonquist interview (from 8.26.08)
begins at the 30:05 mark

HousehusbandsOfHollywood

This week on Dr. Blogstein’s
Radio Happy Hour
:

The Charlie Mattera interview begins at the 38:14 mark

Charlie Mattera is the creator, executive producer and star of FOX Reality Channel’s latest sensation, Househusbands of Hollywood.

CharlieMatteraIn addition to Mattera, “Househusbands” follows Billy Ashley (former outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox, married to makeup artist Lisa Ashley), Danny Barclay (aspiring actor, married to attorney Katherine Barclay), Darryl Bell (best known for playing Ron on “A Different World,” dating Tempestt Bledsoe, late of “The Cosby Show”),  and Grant Reynolds (former USMC sniper, married to Gillian Reynolds of “Good Day L.A.” and “Fox NFL Sunday”) as they navigate a life in which their wives are bringing home the bacon.  King of the castle…ruler of the roost…until his wife comes home from work.

According to the ex-convict turned actor /screenwriter and current husband to psychologist and best friend to actor Ryan O’Neal:

“This is a great country. It’s America. You can really put a foot to your life. You can destroy yourself in the worst possible way, but you can also come back from Hell. And I’ve worked very hard to get my life back on track, and I figured, after a criminal background, the only place to go would be Hollywood because there’s so many criminals in film and in the entertainment business, and I figured I’d be right at home. But I was very lucky and fortunate enough to meet a really nice girl. And my wife is a psychologist, so I have in-house counsel. And she’s a great girl, and she’s put up with me and dealt with me and given me a beautiful son. So, right now, I look at it like I’m batting a thousand.”

Otto OhlssonSinger Otto Ohlsson left his native England with only a guitar and a suitcase to America’s west coast in search of new musical horizons.
