I Once Was Blind but Now I See
The Grand Alliance is the name given to the consortium created in 1993 at the behest of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to develop the American HDTV specification, with the aim of pooling the best work from different companies. In essence, THEY created High Definition TV.
Look, not all men (and women) of science can discover a cure for cancer, develop a time machine or even come up with a new flavor of Snapple. Some are left to invent what many consider less important things. But one man’s frivolity is this man’s messiah.
HDTV is the A-1 Sauce of technology. The old television advertisement for the self-described “traditional thick sauce, seasoned with a robust blend of spices and seasonings” used to claim it turned “hamburgers” into “STEAK burgers.” Well, High-Def turns television into the equivalent of “STEAK burgers.”
Going from Low-Def to High-Def yields the same reaction as I would imagine José Feliciano would
have should he regain his site. This weekend it turned March Madness into MARCH MADNESS. In fact, I might even go as far as to say watching the game in HD is a clearer view than you get live at the game! I’ll let you know if I finally decide to go that far. But until then, we still must salute the great men and women of The Grand Alliance!

Why do good things happen to bad people? This just has to be one of the most perennial question troubling philosophers considering the balance of existence. Either there is no justice, or there is no logic, or it really does come down to some kind of Nitzean universe where Darwinian principles or survival are the norm. Which kind of raises the question of this post, except anyone with a half a brain (for which Dr B must take credit)will realise the reasonby the simple expediency of reversing the original question. Ok, this may be too much to hope for in this case but let’s say persitence on this track will get even more interesting replies not to mention a more robust response.

David: Perhaps you’re giving me too much credit by saying that I have half a brain because I have absolutely no idea what in the hairy hell you’re talking about.
Please, if anyone can translate this for me, do so. I’d appreciate it.

Hi Doc,
Well what he is saying is that when one considers the technology with the HDTV and how far we have come with Steak Sauce that he is absolutely confused with your brilliant post. ROFLMAO

Back in 1993, I worked for a man who knew a multitude of unusual individuals and he whispered in my ear about this new technology that would revolutionize Television viewing…
I forgot about it after a few years and then BAM along comes the real excitement of HDTV
